A Moment for Kindness

Yesterday, Ayana Active enjoyed celebrating a very special day.  Every year, on November 13th, is World Kindness Day, a global day to spotlight kindness in everyday life. This monumental day was launched in 1998 by the World Kindness movement to promote compassion, empathy, and community, reminding us all that even small gestures create a big impact.

BE KIND TO OTHERS 

Enriching the lives of those around us in our community and even beyond is how we all can create meaningful change. Here are some examples of acts of kindness that have a great impact:

  • Encouraging another woman on her personal journey

  • Uplifting a friend during challenging times

  • Supporting small and sustainable businesses.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

When we think of kindness, we tend to think of how we can offer kindness towards other people, but we can often forget that we owe compassion to ourselves as well. We all have a strong personal value, but it can take some self-reflection to understand and nourish this value. Practicing self-kindness is one way in which you can nourish your values.

There are different ways in which you can explore self-kindness, such as:

  • Giving yourself rest and grace- Take time to pause and reflect. Remind yourself that no matter what you are trying to accomplish in life, progress comes from consistency rather than perfection.

  • Movement with intention- When paired with the right intention of well-being, moving your body can be an act of self-kindness. Wearing what makes you feel most comfortable and confident is a powerful way to honor your body during exercise.   • Move your body out of gratitude, not punishment.

World Kindness Day serves as a beautiful reminder to the world to spread compassion, but true impact comes from making kindness an everlasting practice. Being kind to ourselves, others, and the planet helps us create a world in which compassion, empathy, and community are celebrated daily as a movement rather than just a moment.
